Stuff (I know, Stuff Again...?)

Barnes and Noble is having a sale on their hardcover classics. 3 for $9.99. I bought Heroditus "Histories", Dante's "Inferno" and Conrad's "Heart of Darkness and other short stories". All part of my secret Plan to look smarter than I am.

Next, over at Wizbang someone else is a little offended by Paul's manner. Which makes me happy. Maybe eventually enough people will be that he will stop blogging altogether.

Finally (and this is kind of convoluted), A friend's wife maintains two blogs on Yahoo 360. Today I read something on one of them that just stuck in my craw, and I don't really know why.

For a little background, this friend and I and his wife went to high school together, although I only knew the wife in passing then. The wife began dating another friend my senior year, he was much older and she moved in with him after we graduated. During that time I spent a lot of time at her place hanging out. After I joined the service I only saw her and the friend who became her husband occasionally, but she was good friends with yet another friend. My point in all this is I don't have any deep ties to this person, she is just someone who exists on the periphery of my life, and that is why I am not sure why I got so torqued up by her blog.

So anyway I am reading one of her blogs and there is an entry entitled cocktail party. In it she is complaining about being told she was rude when she had guests over. She was bored with the conversation so she started shaving her legs in the middle of the living room. From her explanation the last time they had guests she was bored so she took a nap in the middle of the room, and was chastised for that, so she decided to engage in a more active way this time. I hate rude people and I go out of my way to be polite, even though I slip sometimes, and to me this is incredibly rude. I want to just send her an e-mail and really lay into her but it is none of my business. ...Must maintain composure... but man its hard.

Anyway that is a snapshot of my life at the moment.
