What I'm Reading 5/9/2020 - Little Richard Dead at 87 and DefCon is Cancelled for Realsies

ZDNet - Google expects its staff to work from home until 2021 and it's not alone -
According to a Bloomberg report, Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, told Google employees on Thursday to be ready to work remotely through October and possibly to the end of the year. Actually, a Google spokeswoman said most Google workers are expected to work from home until 2021.
...
It's not just Google. Facebook has also told its staffers that most of them can continue to work from home through the end of the year. Zillow, the online real-estate company, has also announced that its people can work from home until 2021. And, Sagicor, a major Caribbean's insurance provider, announced their employees would be working from home until 2021.
Fifth Domain - Commissions lobby for cyber reforms in the defense policy bill -
Top leaders from the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, and the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service signed a joint letter dated May 4 urging top members of the House and Senate Armed Services committees to implement several recommendations to improve the government’s attraction, management and retention of cyber professionals.

Cybersecurity conferences Black Hat USA and DEF CON 28 will not be held in person this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The conferences will both instead be transformed into completely virtualized events.

Both back-to-back annual conferences were set to take place in Las Vegas this year; Black Hat USA on Aug. 1 to 6, 2020, and DEF CON 28 on Aug. 7 to 9, 2020. The virtual versions of the events will still take place during those same days.

Experts say a return to pre-crisis levels of unemployment could take a couple years, or even longer. Although some jobs will return quickly as states reopen their economies, many others could be gone for awhile. Some jobs may never return.
Basically they are saying 10 plus years to return to pre-Covid levels of unemployment.  I personally think they are wrong, but what do I know?

RIP
