Re-reading the 9/11 Commission Report

Like many people I read the 9/11 Commission Report when it was first released, and I have had occasion to read certain sections again in the years since, but this is my first complete reread in 11 years.  Currently I am finishing up Section 9, which discusses the rescue efforts at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.  While we remember the heroism, and rightly so, I at least had forgotten just how truly fucked up things were on the scene.  It's amazing that the losses weren't much worse that day.  It is really sobering to read this and be reminded of all that again.
