What I am reading 8/25/2014

Books -

Rich Man's War by Elliot Kay - The sequal to Poor Man's Fight, which I previously reviewed.  Follows the continuing adventures of Tanner Malone of the Archangel Navy and their planet's fight against the marauding NorthStar Corporation.  Easy read decent although not excellent story.  Tanner still seems a little Mary Sueish, but overall pretty good book and series.

CCNA Data Center - Introducing Cisco Data Center Networking Study Guide - I am not particularly interested in datacenter networking, but given that I am kind of a moron and staying current on this stuff is kind of important if I want to stay employed AND that VMWare and Cisco Data Center stuff is becoming more tightly intertwined, well I will dive in and out of this book a bit and see what I can pick up.

Articles -

Washington Post - For sale: Systems that can secretly track where cellphone users go around the globe -

This article isn't really easily excerptable  so here is the TLDR version:  If you carry a cellphone you can be tracked with a high level of precision.  It is realtively easy to do and the technology can be purchased off the shelf.  I don'tthink this really surprises anyone but the article really pulls into focus just how simple it is.

Hacker News -Pennsylvania Judge Sentenced For 28 Years For Selling Kids to the Prison System -

Mark Ciavarella Jr, a 61-year old former judge in Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for literally selling young juveniles for cash. He was convicted of accepting money in exchange for incarcerating thousands of adults and children into a prison facility owned by a developer who was paying him under the table. The kickbacks amounted to more than $1 million.

Should have sentenced him to death by stoning.  Just Saying.
