President Bush just delivered a speech on his plan for reducing the price of crude oil and decreasing America's dependence on foreign sources of crude oil. The four point plan he outlined in today's speech is eesentially the same energy plan he has been advocating since the 2000 Presidential campaign; A plan that has been consistently apposed by Maria Cantwell, and which, if it had been implemented back in 2000 would be having a signifigant impact on oil prices now.
1. Lift the moratorium on drilling along the outer continental shelf. - Maria Cantwell supports the ban
2. Allow drilling in ANWR - Maria Cantwell helped lead the charge to block this.
3. Allow exploitation of oil shale in the Green River Basin - 800 billion to 1.2 trillion barrels and extraction is being blocked by Ken Salazor with support from Maria Cantwell.
4. Increase refinery capacity. the current burdensome regulatory process is supported by Maria Cantwell.
The President also called once again for a long term investment in alternative engery sources, but that's not part of his immediate solution.
On a side note Megyn Kelly was looking especially hot in her purple shirt today - Even if she is the type to send out friends to see if a guy meets her high standards and will ditch him with so much as an explanation if he doesn't.
