Brave New World
I finished reading “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley last night. As dystopian novels go I found this one to be worse than most, especially given that it is referred to often in the course of political debate. I am really at a loss to draw any parallels between the society envisioned in the book and current society, with the exception of increased promiscuity and drug use, but neither of those are government policy as Huxley envisioned. Why this is considered a great book is beyond me, other than there are a lot of people who want to feel bad about life.
