The Seattle Times: Business & Technology: How to be an armchair economist

Since my fundamental understanding of economics is if you have less of something and lots of people want it it is exoensive, I am always interested in articles like this. Overall the article seems neutral to mildly positive about the local economy, while I am more pessimistic.

As the economy has rebounded local politicians have started their old tricks of rasing taxes and spending surpluses. Combined with a pretty substantial regulatory burden and a state government that seems to want to model itself on Pol Pot without the killing fields, i.e. driving away all the educated and successful people. I think we have challenges ahead.
