I just finished up the "Bell Jar" by Sylvia Plath, another on the list of the 25 Books Every College Freshman Must Read.
It's funny because I liked this book much better than I like "Catcher In The Rye" even though the themes are basically the same.
For some reason I found Esther Greenwood to be a more sympathetic character than Holden Caufield and empathized with her more. Maybe it's because she was a girl and therefore, especially given where and when I was raised, I subconsciously fell protective of her, whereas Holden was a man (or close enough) and I expect him to suck it up and drive on.
Something to think about. Now to try and finish "A Clockwork Orange", I can't stand that book but hopefully I will be able to bull my way through.
