Iowa Supreme Court Declares Same Sex Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

Normally I would hat tip the blog where I saw this first, but since I can't seem to get the same consideration from anybody - screw 'em.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The Iowa Supreme Court says the state's same-sex marriage ban violates the constitutional rights of gay and lesbian couples, making it the third state where gay marriage is legal.

In a unanimous ruling issued Friday, the court upheld a 2007 Polk County District Court judge's ruling that the law violated the state constitution.

I don't know if this will result in another Prop 8 situation, but since Iowa is in general more conservative than California I think that's possible which, again hurts the cause that gay marriage advocates are attempting to advance.
