Remember when everyone on the Daily Kos and the Huffington Post were predicting elections would be suspended

and Bush would be installed as President for life, because there was no way the evil fascists Bush / Rove / Cheney would ever surrender power? So how do we explain this

Personally I think by preemptively accusing Bush of fascism the left hoped to hide their own. Of course the left isn't known for well thought out analysis of anything.

(on a related note, I found out yesterday that my mother is one of the conspiracy theorists who believe that Jeb Bush rigged the Florida 2000 election. I tried to point out the factual error of her claims but she doesn't care.
