WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Obama’s transition chief says the new administration is looking to reverse some of President Bush’s executive orders but also recognizes their usefulness.
John Podesta says a president can use such orders to move quickly without waiting for Congress and it highlights the extraordinary powers a president can wield.
Podesta says people should expect President-elect Obama to use those powers to reverse many policies of the Bush administration.
Podesta also tells “Fox News Sunday” that Bush orders on stem cell research, oil and gas drilling and other matters are being re-examined.
Smooth Barack, smooth. I know the current economic situation is being blamed on subprime mortgages, but in my opinion the subprime mortgage crisis was actually triggered by rising fuel costs. Rising cost at the pumps combined with higher interest rates put in place to control inflation, in part sparked by higher fuel costs, probably pushed many marginal borrows into default.
So how do we handle this? By reinstating the ban that helped inflate fuel costs.
Like I said - Smooth.
