Are the Mumbai bombings the begiining of a bigger terrorist offensive?

From the accounts I am reading these attacks are:

well coordinated and professional (al-Qaeda halmarks)
aimed at Americans and Brits.
performed by (or at least the group claiming responsibility is) an Islamic group very few have heard of before, which was the case with other al-qaeda associated attacks.

Which makes me think the may be Al-Qaeda associated.

The fact that they are occuring on the same holiday weekend as NYC had an alert and London had an alert makes me think something bigger was planned.

At the time I writing this the Indian arming was storming the hotels where terrorists were holding hostages. Hopefully that goes well.
