After weeks of complaining about high oil prices and calling for investigations into them Maria Cantwell had a chance to do something about them this week. How? By voting to relax restrictions on oil exploration off the coasts and to allow drilling in ANWR. She has also opposed increasing infrastructure which would help remove one of the bottlenecks in gas production. She did vote to quit sending 77,000 barrels of oil a day to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve an increase of a whopping 1.71% of oil available for consumer use.
Of course when she is up for reelection she will be out telling voters how much she feels their pain and she really wants lower gas prices.
BTW Patty Murray voted against exploration too.
In case it isn't clear Catwell voted against exploration
