Time to eat a little crap

The other day I challenged Randfan at over at Becky's to show me where any mainstream Republican candidate is calling for a theocracy. I felt pretty secure in that challenge so of course Mike Huckabee has to go and spew out this garbage"

"[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it's a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that's what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards," Huckabee said, referring to the need for a constitutional human life amendment and an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

Not an explicit call for a theocracy but pretty damn close. Closer than I am comfortable with.

I don't have a problem with people using their religion to help guide them in making decisions. I do have a problem with them changing our government to comply with their interpretation of the Bible.

Fortunately except for about 15 minutes 4 months ago after I heard an interview on the Michael Medved show in which Gov. Huckabee came off as a reasonable person I have been steadfastedly against his candidacy.
