Finally watched "The Crusades - The Cross and The Cresent"

I recorded the show of the History Channel months (years?) ago and it has just been sitting on my DVR taking up space.

Actually a pretty good show once it got started, although like all History Channel shows the over do it with the reiteration of facts after every commercial break.

The parts of the first episode about the founding of the Crusader States was particularly interesting. Christians eating Muslims to make a point - I bet if we did that in Iraq things would be going a lot different (that's a joke people). According to the show the Crusaders resorted to cannibalism when their leaders wouldn't proceed towards Jerusalem, and according to one of the Arab commentators the act was taken as a statement by the Crusaders towards the Muslims that they were considered so unworthy that they could even be eaten. In reality there was apparently a famine in the Crusader army and they were eating everything they could.

Even with that it was still an interesting show and worth watching if you get the chance.
