I went and saw 300, the movie based on Frank Miller's graphic novel about the Spartans at Thermopylae. I'm not a movie critic so I'm not going to try and over analyze it, I will say it was damn good.
The visual effects replicated the comic book setting, which I hated in Sin City. The acting was over the top as was the action. It drug a little in places, but not much. The music was good (went and bought the soundtrack even). Of course historical accuracy is out the window but holy crap people it's a live action comic book not a textbook :-) .
All in all I recommend it and just ignore all the crap you are seeing about poltical overtones those can be interpreted either way.
