I don?t know much about microfinance (actually I don't know much about anything but even less about microfinance), but in my boring and predictable way I found this article in the Seattle PI rather interesting.
Apparently there is a growing movement to make very small loans to individuals in developing nations. These loans allow them to open their own businesses, be it seamstressing, raising chickens, delivering milk, whatever. From what I gather these loans are treated just like a normal loan, i.e. they must be paid back, interest paid etc.
