NPR : A Virtual Course in Iraqi Arabic

NPR : A Virtual Course in Iraqi Arabic

The Army is developing a language training course in Iraqi Arabic based on the Unreal Tournament game engine. This is a huge development in my opinion because one of the chokepoints in foriegn military operations, especially nation building type operations is the language barrier. This will make our forces much more effective (if it works), for one thing it will be harder for prisoners to conceal information. Of course the will probably start speaking the Iraqi equivalent of Pig Latin. This also has huge implications for Law Enforcement personnel, especially in citys like LA. The officers if properly trained will be able tointeract more effectively with the target population (and no I don't mean target in that way:-) ) Ditto for disaster relief operations.
