Stuff 12/12/12

Ars Technica -  Commander X, Anonymous member and self-described political exile.
Christopher “Commander X” Doyon leads a dramatic life these days. He jumped bail and fled the US after the FBI arrested him in 2011 for bringing down a county government website—the only Anonymous-affiliated activist yet to take such a step. ...  Doyon has a story he wants to tell, and after he removes his hat, sunglasses, and backpack, he soon warms to the telling of it. It's the story of how, in Doyon's words, "the USA has become so tyrannical that a human rights/information activist would feel compelled to flee into exile and seek sanctuary in another country.”
Having lived in a number of foreign countries including a couple where military dictatorships are an ongoing part of life I disagree, but this is Commander X's story and Ars does a pretty good job of letting him tell it.  Commander X also appears in "We Are Legion:  The Rise of The Hacktivists" which I watched over the weekend.  Not a bad movie but very sympathetic to Anonymous.

Microsoft - Microsoft Surface to be sold in more retail outlets:
As early as mid-December, consumers will be able to go to retail stores in the United States and Australia to purchase a Surface with Windows RT. Additional availability will be added in a number of countries in the coming months.
“Our plan has been to expand the retail presence for Surface after the first of the year. Based on interest from retailers, we are giving them the option to carry Surface with Windows RT even earlier,” said Steve Schueler, corporate vice president, Microsoft Retail Sales and Marketing.
As the only person in the world who like Windows 8 I think this is a good move, but what do I know?

Ace of Spades - Attack on +Steven Crowder caught on tape.  Will they be prosecuted.

Slashdot - Blizzard Has Diablo 3 Running on Consoles.

Wired - Eulogy for #Occupy.  Short version - America sucks.  Speaking of "We are Legion"  Quinn Norton also appeared in it.  At least I think she did IMDB only lists to cast members.

And that's everything that interested me today.
