An in-depth report today from the New York Times confirms the truth of that statement as it finally lays bare the history and development of the Stuxnet virus—and how it accidentally escaped from the Iranian nuclear facility that was its target.
Not exactly sure how I feel about this. On the one hand I believe that America has to be aggressive in protecting it's and it's allies national interests. On the other hand this seems like a dangerous escalation of the conflict. Yes it may have slowed Iran's development of a nuclear bomb, but it also made it OK (in the eyes of others) to launch similar attacks against our infrastructure. Lots of other concerns too and I am just not sure how this all balances out.
