Haven't seen anything about her resignation from the Military Construction subcommittee on any of major news outlets, but all the major (well I read them so they must be major) right wing blogs are running with the story.
I also haven't received anymore visits from the Senate Sergeant at Arms so maybe the secret Senate hitmen aren't coming to do me in.
There may be a reason
I visited Senator Feinstein's webpage and there is no mention of her either serving on the Military Construction subcommittee or her resignation so that didn't tell me much. Her wikipedia entry doesn't mention her membership on the committee although it does mention her resignation from it later in the entry.
The wikipedia page on the United States Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies doesn't mention her membership or chairmanship. The last edit on this page was made 28 Jan 2007. The Senate webpage for this committee also makes no mention of her membership.
In short I think this may be a non-story. I am considering e-mailing her office for a comment.
Updated 3/30/07 12:17pm- One of Michelle Malkin's readers e-mailed the readers rep at the SF Chronicle, who said they had asked the managing editor to have this story checked out.
I have done a little more digging on this and found the subcommittees assignments as of 1/10/2007. Diane Feinstein was not on this subcommittee as of that date.
Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee Democratic Members: Senator Tim Johnson (Chairman); Senator Daniel Inouye; Senator Mary Landrieu; Senator Robert Byrd; Senator Patty Murray; Senator Jack Reed; and Senator Ben Nelson
Republican Members: Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (Ranking); Senator Larry Craig; Senator Sam Brownback; Senator Wayne Allard; Senator Mitch McConnell; and Senator Bob Bennett
I have a feeling that the Chronicle is going to find much ado about nothing.
