The whole Happy Holidays vs. Merry Christmas Thing

This is another one of those issues that I think people get way to bent out of shape over. Although I think it is stupid to refer to a Christmas tree as a Holiday tree, the rest of this dispute is just idiotic. There are 3 major holidays in December, Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanza. It hurts no one to acknowledge all three. On the other hand there is no reason to become outraged if a store employee or even a government wishes you a Merry Christmas. Everyone needs to grow the hell up and just celebrate whatever they celebrate and stop actively looking for reasons to be offended.

This is not to say that I defend the other attacks against the religous influences that helped form our country. That is historical revisionism and I wish more courts would recognize that fact. Removing a cross that has been in place at a park for 10 years is a much different proposition than removing one that has been displayed in a government building for 200. Removing a cross from a city seal where it's purpose is to commemorate the influence missionaries had on the settlement of this country is different than removing a photocopied copy of the 10 commandments from a wall above a secretaries desk. In one case the sysmbol has some historical signifigance in the other it is just something that was put up if you see what I mean.

Anyway that's my first rant for the day.
