This is a follow on to my post yesterday.
I am not the only one asking why buses weren't used for evacuating people who had no transportation of their own. So far Matt Drudge, Michelle Malkin, Betsy Newmark, and whoever runs junkyardblog are asking the same thing. This is in my mind the single biggest thing that could have been done to prevent the tragedy we are seeing now.
Question- When did the meaning of mandatory change to "well if I want to I will."?
Question- Why would Louisiana State Police be giving tickets, to people who are trying to get out of New Orleans, for having children riding on laps and not using seat belts when people are trying to get as many of their family members in a car as possible? That was one of the reasons I heard for a family not evacuating yesterday. They wanted to go, they had a car but the entire family wouldn't fit unless the children rode in laps and they didnt use seatbelts. The father was unwilling to leave family members behind and according to him he had heard on the radio that the state police were stopping cars and making arrests, so the stayed.
I am so pissed off right now that I can't believe it. I just heard that the USNS comfort is still 5 days away from New Orleans. Hello Dipshits, go to the MedLog company at 1st FSSG Camp Pendleton, there are all the supplies prepackaged there u need and if the cant be loaded onto a c17 or C130 and delivered in 24 hours someone needs to be fired.
I am a supporter of the Bush administration but they have screwed the pooch here. Command and Control is completely hosed I have the feeling the Dept. of Homeland Security / FEMA re-org cut into some experienced project managers and now we are seeing the results.
